I would like to say thank you to Roberto Di Matteo for his services to West Bromwich Albion and to the wider commuity here in Sandwell. I have met him and he is a decent guy and, I believe, a good and up-coming Manager. Good luck for the Future RDM.
I, like many baggies fans, are in a state of shock at his removal as Manager of the Club and, had he been given the resources and backing by the Chairman, he would have faired much better.
Now, let me turn to our beloved Chairman, who, I might add, I have supported without question since his arrvial at the Club, until the start of this Season.
Albion have been in and out of the top fight for years now and, again the start of this season saw very little investment in players. We all thought “Here we go again”! Early season form rasied expectation. Quite right! All the players were fit and hungry, but when you looked at the depth of the squad well, frankly it was poor, now that’s not RDM’S fault is it?
Its time for the Chairman to come out from behind the Club web site and talk to the Media and fans about why he has sacked the Manager at such a crucial point in the season.
It’s time the Chairman explained where the Money the club has had from being in and out of the top flight has gone ? And, if I hear that old chestnut about players and wages again! Work it out. The players that have come and gone in the last few seasons - Davis, Komas, Kamara, Gera, Greening and their reported tranfer fees - millions.
The January tranfer window said it all for me, and many other fans. I think that the sacking of RDM is no more than a stunt to draw the attention away from himself as Chairman for not investing in the team. We Loyal fans deserve better than this. Fans have lost their patience with him and this was evident at the Wigan game where fans were openly saying he does not care about the club, and that he’s happy for us to be a yo-yo club. To be fair, JP has moved the club forward - training ground and infer-structre to name a couple.
But I will remind people this is a PLC and he does not have to listen to a thing we fans say or think. That is the modern way of Football I dont like it but I love my Team and that’s where they got us every time.
