Great GCSE results for Sandwell

Great to see today’s news on GCSE results in Sandwell – record results for lots of our schools as they continue to get better year-on-year.   You can get a round-up here

Pleasing as the borough’s progress is, I can’t help thinking of all the human stories behind the figures and statistics.

And they must involve lots and lots of young people who are feeling pretty happy today as they look back on a job well done.

I only hope they are not left feeling too bitter by all the carpers and critics who claim that exams are getting easier to pass.

One final thought: if Sandwell can do this well given the current state of many school buildings, just think how much better things might be with more investment in the physical fabric and facilities at our schools (see my past blogs on the Building Schools for the Future saga).
