We are building a new secondary school in Langley with the school scheduled to open its doors to children in September 2016.
We’re now into the last few months of construction of Q3 Academy on the former Langley High School site on Moat Road, Oldbury.
This is the first new secondary school to open in ten years in Sandwell. The first 150 Year Seven pupils will start at the school this September and the school will eventually accommodate over 1,500 pupils.
The new school, although not finished, is really taking shape.
I had the pleasure of going to visit the site and seeing the new structures that have been built so far and it promises to be a fantastic learning environment for the children.
I met future pupils of the school who were extremely enthusiastic about Q3 Academy Langley. I’m already told the school is over-subscribed.
We have worked in partnership with sponsor Eric Payne, who already sposors the successful Q3 Acadmey in Great Barr, to ensure we have more secondary school spaces in the borough to meet increasing demands.
We will continue to do all we can to ensure we have enough school places for the children across Sandwell.
